For all the Barossa purists out there, welcome to the most immaculate masterclass case we have ever offered. Welcome to the six-pack of your dreams - a collection of some of the rarest, most carefully considered and expressive wines that the region has to offer. Eisenstone may be one of the younger estates in the Barossa (founded in 2014!) but they are making the most powerful of waves, giving us as wine drinkers a new way of experiencing these hallowed vineyards.
Stephen Cook showed up on the Barossa scene a few years ago with a single tonne of grapes and his rise with Eisenstone since then has left us absolutely flabbergasted. By his own admission, treats the region with a Burgundian approach. Each parish and vineyard is treated identically, to showcase the distinct characteristics of the vines, soil, earth and viticulture.
How did we come by such esteemed and rare wines? Well, since you asked…it’s kind of a funny story. By chance, we happened to be browsing The Real Review at THE EXACT MOMENT that Huon Hooke published his colossal scores for them. Like Huon, we weren’t terribly familiar with them. But those scores…we were on the phone minutes later placing an order for them. Even with our speed though, the allocation we received wasn’t a great deal.
The best way to showcase the limited bottles we have? This exclusive masterclass pack. Here’s what you’ll get:
1 x bottle of 2021Eisenstone 'Becker' Shiraz SV - 98 Points, Huon Hooke
1 x bottle of 2021 Eisenstone 'Ebenezer' Shiraz SR802 - 95 Points, Huon Hooke
1 x bottle of 2021 Eisenstone 'Greenock' Shiraz - 93 Points, Huon Hooke
1 x bottle of 2021 Eisenstone Hoffmann Vineyard Ebenezer Shiraz SV902 - 97 Points, Huon Hooke
2 x Bottles of 2021 Eisenstone 'Koonunga' Shiraz SR807 - 96 Points, Huon Hooke
Each of these bottles can be counted almost by the handful, such is the rarity of their production. This is the modern Barossa, and a winemaking working his way into the rarefied air alongside luminaries like Dan Standish, Sami-Odi and Torbreck.
