2021 - Decisions, Decisions This year more than ever, it was crucial to make the right decisions at the right time. At every step of the growing season, Nature challenged the teams of each estate and all the required decisions to overcome theses challenges were made collectively. Whether it was to overcome the frost, the capricious spring or to decide the harvest dates, each of these decisions shaped the profile of the wines of Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 2021: a vintage in which it was definitively impossible to cheat. To be noted: 2021 is the first vintage in conversion to Organic Farming for all the estates of Domaines Barons de Rothschild. 2021, The Best of both worlds Duhart-Milon appears cheerful yet direct in 2021, having taken advantage of the best of both worlds. With a less sunny vintage the dry gravel terroirs, which like the Atlantic climate and stress-free years, particularly performed. The Cabernets did really well this year, some much that, from the youngest to the oldest, they had almost all the required high level to go into the blend of the first wine. In the end, there is a historically low percentage of Merlot and an identity which reminds us the great vintages from the past. Duhart-Milon 2021 has a historically direct character softened by the beautiful ripeness it has shown in recent years. The best of both worlds.
