It smells minerally. Flint, bitter grapefruit, brown apples, bread crust. Lithe in flavour character, breezing through the palate with undeniable minerality of wet cool river stones, grapefruit pith and crushed white flowers giving a hint of sweetness and a raw element. The 2020 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru offers attractive yellow fruit on the nose, well-defined with a light flinty note in the background. The palate is firm with nice acidity; it's quite taut and fresh, attenuating slightly towards the finish that exerts decent grip. Give this a year in bottle.
