James Suckling
This is more open than other single vineyard releases from Scavino with plum, raspberry and black cherry aromas with hints of honeysuckle. Some wet earth. Full-bodied with chewy tannins on the palate. Hints of citrus skin. Pure. Needs time to soften. Try after 2028.

Stephen Brook - Decanter
From a south-facing site on marne and limestone soils, this is one of Scavino's most important wines in terms of volume. The nose, which displays red fruits, is reticent and lacks some aromatic force now, but the wine is still young. Supple, rounded and fleshy, the palate is also concentrated, with firm tannins and considerable complexity. Spicy and tangy, it shows ample grip and energy on the long, weighty finish.

The 2019 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio (with 6,800 bottles made) needs more time to open. With fruit from the village of Roddi, this expression tends to be more accessible overall, with dark cherry, dried raspberry, spice and earthy iris root. Like some of the other wines in this set of releases, the aromas had difficultly coming out at the time I tasted these samples.

Brilliant ruby garnet. On the nose medium intensity, a touch of mint, pomegranate, red apple, raspberries, undergrowth. On the palate with a fruit core, watermelon, plus juicy and tightly woven tannins, nice saltiness to the finish.

Antonio Galloni MW - Vinous
The 2019 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is a pretty tightly-wound wine for a site that has produced much more open-knit Barolos. Floral, savory and mineral notes dominate, while fruit is pushed into the background. I am surprised to see acids and tannins so prominently on display. It will be interesting to see if this ever softens.
