From the Serra vineyard, perched on the heights of Serralunga d’Alba, this Giovanni Rosso Barolo embodies the mineral power typical of this iconic Piedmont terroir. Grown at altitudes between 370 and 395 meters on slopes facing east and southeast, this 100% Nebbiolo is patiently vinified and aged for up to 36 months in large French oak casks. The nose reveals deep aromas of blackberry, raspberry, mint, and balsamic—hallmark notes of great Serralunga wines. The palate is structured, with powerful yet elegant tannins, great persistence, and a refined finish. This Barolo pairs perfectly with herb-crusted slow-cooked lamb shoulder, roasted duck breast, or even a gourmet truffle and mushroom pizza.

Aldo Fiordelli - Decanter
Serra is always the more austere Serralunga Barolo from Giovanni Rosso; it deserves time and is not an easy wine. The nose is focused on earthy clay minerality, violet, dill, liquorice, dried cherry and peony. There's nice delicacy first due to graceful acidity, with elegant tannins at the fore but then a thick end, with massive sternness and an orangey character. A modern Barolo with old-fashioned typicity.

Bright, shiny ruby with a flint core. Expressive nose of sugared raspberry, red peach, some cold smoke, then pomegranate and oak. Great fruit expression on the palate and fine, juicy tannins. The wine seems very balanced, with high drinkability and a juicy finish.

Jeff Porter - Wine Enthusiast
Opening with lifted aromas of macerated strawberries, raspberries, and cherries covered in sweet spices of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg this Barolo is like waking near a bakery as they prepare pies. The palate is soft and rounded with easy tannins with succulent fruit flavors and a subtle hint of amaro-like herbs on the finish. Drink 2024-2035.

Antonio Galloni MW - Vinous
The 2019 Barolo Serra is bright and sculpted in feel. Brisk acids and veins of tannin give the 2019 gorgeous translucent energy. Orange peel, crushed rocks, mint and cinnamon all grace this vibrant, linear Barolo from Davide Rosso. Give this a year or two in bottle.

Very pretty with violets, black cherries, and raspberry aromas that follow through to a medium body with well-integrated tannins and a fresh and bright finish. Better in 2026.
