Campbell Mattinson - Halliday's Wine Companion
Amazing value. Full-bodied and hearty with blackberry and redcurrant powering through the palate. Peppercorn and floral notes make minor appearances but the surge of fruit manages the seduction. Excellent concentration.

Dense and concentrated, with cassis, blackberry and dried cherry flavors that have an appealing chewy, rustic profile, with plenty of charm to the tobacco, spice and black tea flavors, lingering harmoniously. Drink now through 2028. 4,200 cases imported.

Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker
If it weren't for the savory undercurrent of black olives running through it, you might be forgiven for mistaking d'Arenberg's 2015 The Footbolt Shiraz for a vanilla-laced boysenberry pie. That's an exaggeration, but this medium to full-bodied effort does have copious amounts of mixed berry fruit, plentiful fine-grained tannins and a dry, hearty finish. It's one of my favorite vintages of this wine to date.

It seems that d’Arenberg have hit good form at the more affordable end of their red spectrum. Good solid regional Shiraz. Black fruits, cut flowers and polished leather, aniseed and briar. Full bodied, good density and chew to the thick tannin, a core of black fruits, dark chocolate on a pretty long finish. Rock solid. Should cellar pretty well in the medium term too.
