So harmonious and complete with tones of citrus, sea spray, crushed shells, dried shiitake, pipe tobacco, Kalamata olive, fresh pastries and toast. Bone-dry and beautifully focused, it travels on rails of crystalline Tasmanian acidity with a 'sucking on a river pebble' savoury aspect and a finish that shows remarkable sustain and harmony. Just superb.

Only the third time made, so far, and 60% chardonnay on 40% pinot noir. It spends twelve years on lees. Fancy fizz from Stefano Lubiana. It’s rich, yes, somewhat cloying and sticky, indeed, very dry through the finish – juxtapositions a thing here. It has lots of sticky, toffee apple, onion skin, pear nectar reminiscent of the Grande Vintage 2011 and then some soapy, preserved lemon notes, gingery piquancy too. Bold perfume, big flavours, soft landing. Some hessian and hay through the finish with brown sugar dusted porridge. Missing some energy, with loose bubbles, but the fine line of of briny minerality does make landfall and some uplift. Layers and layers here, and generosity if that’s your thing.
