This is the flagship Shiraz, first made in 1987 from some of the Barossa’s most prized vineyard sites. The 2010 release was sourced mainly from extremely low-yielding vineyards in Ebenezer, in the northern Barossa, with additional fruit from Nuriootpa and Peter Lehmann’s own vineyard on Stonewall Road.
The fruit was fermented and macerated on skins for up to two weeks, with some partial barrel fermentation to build texture and complexity. After pressing and clarification, the wine was matured for around 14 months in hogsheads, made up of 90% French oak and 10% American oak.
The 2010 vintage brought welcome winter rain after years of drought, followed by warm, stable ripening conditions. The result is a powerful yet balanced Stonewell, with deep colour, clarity, richness and finely shaped structure.
