Offers a bright inner core of honeysuckle, pineapple, star fruit and white peach flavors, coated for now with heather honey, marzipan and mango notes. Fresh and racy through the finish, this is an elegant beauty, showing terrific cut and precision.

The 2010 Coutet has quite an intense bouquet with linseed oil and wax resin infusing the dried honey aromas, then orange pith and a touch of saffron. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Harmonious and extremely well focused, this conveys a sense of energy on the finish that makes you want to return for another sip. Excellent. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.

The Chateau Coutet 2010 was a beauty from barrel with its payload of 154gms of residual sugar and sure enough, after a year in bottle it is one of the most compelling sweet wines in the vintage. It shows immense clarity on the nose, with the oak still a little prominent at the moment, but it will integrate with bottle age. The palate is well-balanced with a fine line of acidity. There is an engaging sense of tension here, real drive and mineralite towards the finish, like a cousin of Doisy-Daene but with a little more bravura. There is a sense of purpose about this 2010 Sauternes, with a persistent finish that keeps you coming back for more. Bravo! Drink now-2030+.

The 2010 Coutet, a blend of 75% Sémillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, is pale lemon-gold in color with a nose that explodes with decadent pineapple, mango and lemon meringue pie notes with touches of acacia honey, candle wax and yuzu. Full-on opulent in the mouth, the palate sings with concentrated citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing long and honeyed. This has 160 grams per liter of residual sugar.

93-95 Powerfully rich wine, very concentrated, rich, with a great balance between acidity and honey and apricot flavors. Finely rich.

The 2010 Coutet exhibits wonderful aromatics of dried mangoes, dried apricots and marmalade, and a great concentration of botrytis flavours. Rich, dense but with firm acidity and great length, this is an impressive effort from a producer not usually known for reaching such heights. This fantastic Sauternes shows a wonderful balance between sweet layered flavours and firm acidity, has a long lingering finish and is built to age for decades. This is one for your cellar.
Steven Spurrier - Decanter
Opulent apricot nose that is fleshy, ripe and oaky. The texture is almost creamy with a bright seam of acidity. A round and sensuous style.Drink 2014-2035 17/20

Smudgy and interesting, already, on the nose. Lots of richness and smoothness. Really. This approaches the idea of a classic vintage with its density and concentration. Long. Very fine. RS 156 g/l, TA 4.2. Drink 2022-2040 18/20
