Ro-Da, a renowned producer from Spain, is the brainchild of two visionary individuals, Mario Rottlant and Carmen Daurella. Since its inception in 1987, this producer has been on a mission to showcase the unique potential of Rioja wines. The name Ro-Da itself is a clever contraction of the surnames of the owners, with their exquisite extra virgin olive oil, Dauro, following a similar pattern. At the core of Ro-Da's philosophy lies the belief that great wines are born from exceptional vineyards. With this in mind, the producers have carefully selected 17 different vineyards, all boasting old vines and poor soils. These vineyards, a mix of sandstone and clay/limestone, have a rich history of producing quality Rioja wines, making them the perfect foundation for Ro-Da's creations. Situated in the Estacion district near Haro, Ro-Da's main vineyards have been the source of their exceptional wines since the early years. However, it wasn't until 1992 that their vision truly came to fruition with the release of their first wines, Roda 1 and Roda 2 (also known as Roda). These wines have been consistently produced every year since, with the exception of 1993 when only Roda 2 was released. In 1998, Ro-Da took their winemaking to the next level with the introduction of their deluxe wine, 'Cirsion'. This exceptional wine, named after the Latin word for 'passion', is a testament to Ro-Da's dedication and commitment to producing only the finest wines. And in 2008, Ro-Da expanded their range with the addition of 'Sela', a young vines wine that showcases the potential of their newer vineyards. In summary, Ro-Da is more than just a producer, it is an embodiment of passion, dedication, and a deep-rooted love for Rioja wines. With each bottle, they strive to capture the essence of the land, the history, and the people behind every sip, making Ro-Da a truly unique and exceptional producer in the world of wine.
