Collection: Poggiotondo Wines

Located in romantic Tuscany, Central Italy, Poggiotondo is the brainchild of ex-teacher Carlo Antonini. He bought the property in 1968 and has since created a thoroughly modern vineyard and winery. His son is international oenologist Alberto Antonini, who’s list of clients read like the masters of New World wine order. They include E & J Gallo and Concha y Toro. He is also credited as being key to the global success of Argentinian Malbec. In addition to all this, Alberto took over Poggiotondo in 2001 and has continued to build on his father’s vision.

Sitting in the western hills of the Chianti wine region, Poggiotondo has 50-hectares of vines planted to Malvasia, Trebbiano, Canaiolo, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Much of the vineyard work is carried out by hand, however, the winery employs the latest and greatest winemaking techniques. Style wise the wines range from elegant, floral Vermentino through to red fruit, earth and tar Chianti Riserva (Sangiovese) that are balanced and show their Tuscan origins.
