Château le Tertre Roteboeuf

Nestled in the rolling hills of the prestigious St-Emilion region in France is the renowned producer, Château le Tertre Roteboeuf. Owned by the talented François Mitjavile, this estate produces only 2000 cases of their highly coveted wine each year. It is easily Mitjavile's most celebrated creation, revered by wine enthusiasts and critics alike. Spread over a mere 6 hectares, François farms his vineyard with utmost independence, using traditional and sustainable methods to bring out the best in his grapes. In 1994, he made the bold move of removing the word "château" from his labels, perhaps to avoid any preconceived notions of arrogance or pretension. Despite its position as one of the most sought-after gems of Bordeaux, Le Tertre Roteboeuf remains a humble St-Emilion Grand Cru, as François has no interest in being associated with the prestigious Premiers Crus Classés of the region. In the vineyard, François stands out even further. His vines are trained lower than any others in the region, and he chooses to pick his grapes later than anyone else. This allows his wines to develop a unique voluptuousness and silkiness that cannot be found elsewhere. And despite this richness, his wines never feel heavy - a true testament to François' genius as a winemaker. With every sip of Le Tertre Roteboeuf, one can taste the passion and expertise of François, making it a truly exceptional wine that stands out among the rest.
