Located in the prestigious Pomerol region of France, Château Gazin boasts a rich history dating back to the 12th century. It was during this time that the vineyards of Pomerol were first established under the guidance of the knights of Saint-Jean of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta. These knights were known for their legendary hospitality and played a pivotal role in the development of the region's viticulture.
Originally known as a hamlet, Château Gazin is believed to have been built on the site of the "Hospital of Pomeyrols", a place of rest for pilgrims traveling on the Santiago de Compostela route. This unique heritage is reflected in the name of the property's second wine, "l'Hospitalet de Gazin".
Today, Château Gazin is owned by the Bailliencourt dit Courcol family, descendants of the high lords of Landas. The family's coat of arms bears the crest of the Landas and their motto, "fut par vertu Courcol" (Courcol through virtue), dates back to 1214 when a member of the family was praised by King Philippe-Auguste for his bravery during the Battle of Bouvines. From that moment on, the family was known as "known as Courcol" in honour of their courage.
With its rich history and prestigious location, Château Gazin continues to produce exceptional wines that capture the essence of Pomerol. Each bottle is a testament to the centuries of tradition and dedication that have gone into creating this renowned estate. Experience the heritage and taste the excellence of Château Gazin, a true gem of the French wine industry.
