Chateau Fontenil

Château Fontenil, nestled in the charming commune of Saillans, is a testament to the passion and expertise of its owners, Dany and Michel Rolland. As heirs to a long-standing family winemaking tradition and graduates from the prestigious University of Bordeaux with degrees in oenology, the Rollands have a deep understanding of the Fronsac appellation. After years of consulting for various estates in the region, they decided to establish their own domaine in 1986, acquiring a few hectares of land which they named after one of the plots in their vineyard. With a commitment to excellence, the Rollands spared no expense in renovating their installations. The vinification, barrel, and storage cellars are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, blending traditional methods with modern techniques. The vineyards, situated on a south-facing slope overlooking the picturesque river Isle and the town of Libourne, are nurtured with great care. From traditional cultural practices such as plowing and manual harvesting, to sustainable treatments and yield control, every aspect is meticulously managed to ensure the finest quality grapes. The result of this dedication and attention to detail is a range of exceptional wines that have elevated the reputation of the Fronsac appellation. Château Fontenil's wines are a true reflection of the terroir and the craftsmanship of the Rolland family, making them a must-try for any wine enthusiast.
