Nestled in the picturesque region of Moulis-en-Medoc, Chateau Brillette stands tall as one of the most revered vineyards in the area. With a sprawling estate of 100 hectares, including 40 hectares of vines classified as appellation d’origine controle, this esteemed producer has been crafting exceptional wines since the 19th century.
Owned by the Flageul family since 1976, the estate has been passed down through three generations, each one dedicated to perfecting the art of winemaking. This passion is reflected in every bottle, with a distinct character that is uniquely Chateau Brillette.
The terroir of Chateau Brillette is second to none, with its vines basking in the warm sunlight and rooted in the same gravelly soil as some of the region's most prestigious grand crus classes. This ideal setting allows for the perfect ripening of the grapes, resulting in a wine that truly captures the essence of the land it was grown on.
A blend of 48% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, Chateau Brillette’s wine is a harmonious marriage of flavors. The high percentage of Merlot adds a velvety smoothness, while the Cabernet grapes bring structure and depth. The unique addition of Petit Verdot adds a touch of richness and a deep, vibrant color to the final product.
After 12 months of aging in French oak barrels, with a careful selection of 30% to 50% new barrels each year, the result is a wine that is dark garnet in color, with a subtle orange rim. On the nose, one can detect notes of cold brew espresso and the aroma of toasted almonds. On the palate, ripe red fruit takes center stage, with flavors of red plums and cherries, intertwined with hints of dried herbs. The finish is complex and satisfying, with soft tannins that leave a lasting impression.
Experience the essence of Chateau Brillette with every sip, and discover why this producer has been a favorite of wine connoisseurs for generations.
