Cavallotto

Located in the picturesque region of Piedmont, Italy, Cavallotto is a producer that encompasses the true essence of Barolo. Owned and operated by the Cavallotto family, consisting of Alfio, Giuseppe and Laura, this estate has been crafting exceptional wines that showcase the traditional style of Nebbiolo. With their meticulous viticulture techniques, low yields and rigorous management in the vineyard, the family produces wines that are a true reflection of their terroir. The showpiece of the estate is the famed Bricco Boschis Cru, a monopole vineyard situated in the heart of Barolo's Castiglione Falletto commune. This sun-drenched hill, with its sandy/calcareous clays, produces wines that offer both depth and texture, as well as the classic structure desired by Barolo enthusiasts. The adjoining Vignolo Cru also produces outstanding Barolo, while the majority of the estate's bottlings come from the majestic Bricco Boschis. With a total area of 8.8-hectares, the Cavallotto family divides their vineyard into three subzones, each with its own unique soil composition, elevation, and aspect. These subzones, Vigne Colle Sud-Ovest, Punta Marcello, and Vigna San Giuseppe, contribute to the complexity and diversity of their wines. The vineyard's old, densely planted vines grow at an altitude of 300-360 meters, and the soils, a mixture of yellow, white, and grey calcareous clays, are enriched with sand and sandstone. Cavallotto's wines, from their entry-level bottlings to their prestigious single Cru Riserva, are a testament to the family's dedication and passion for producing exceptional Barolo. With accolades from renowned wine critics such as Antonio Galloni and Monica Larner, Cavallotto continues to impress and captivate wine lovers with their classic, yet delicious wines.
