Bernard Fouquet's intensely citrus-yellow colored NV Vouvray Brut Méthode Traditionelle displays a lovely, pure, fresh and aromatic bouquet of tropical fruits, popcorn, almond, herbal and lemon flavors intertwined with delicate, smoky, limestone notes. Medium to full-bodied, round and elegant, this 12% alcohol Chenin is a gorgeously fruit-intense, pure and refreshing sparkling wine; it stresses the tropical nature of Chenin, as well as the chalky nature of the terroir in Vouvray. The finish is really fresh and well structured, and respectively stimulating in its delicate grip and fine salinity. This is a lovely aperitif and a great alternative to the finest Blancs de Blancs from Champagne.

The latest rendition of Aubuisieres Non-Vintage Vouvray Brut Methode Traditionelle smells of ripe melons and narcissus, with a whiff of snuffed candle wick. Pineapple and lime join the melons on a juicy, delicate palate, with hints of salt as well as pungent citrus zest and smoke adding to the invigoration conveyed by a fine stream of bubbles. I was surprised to find the finish entirely satisfying and fruit-filled despite there being a mere 2 grams of residual sugar. The latest installment of what is surely the consistently best value in its appellation,

The current Aubousieres non-vintage Vouvray Brut Methode Traditionelle (with lot number LO10905) tweaks the nose with lemon oil, salt spray, and pungent flowers. Chalky, saline and alkaline on the palate, and with moderately fine mousse, it clings impressively with subtly oily honey and bitter-sweet citrus oil. This wine’s sheer intensity, minerality and distinctively Vouvray personality might work against it in some social and culinary contexts. I would utilize it over the next year in circumstances that would also call for still (i.e. tranquil) Vouvray sec.

Cooked apples, biscuits and blanched almonds on the nose. It’s lightly yeasty and medium-bodied with soft bubbles. Slightly short.

Medium to full yellow colour with golden tints. The bouquet is developed and quite toasty, yeasty and baked apple-pie nuances, the palate broad and generous, if not that refined. The phenolics adding a trace of grip to it. There's a whisper of sweetness buried in there. Substantial aged character here.
