The nose is red fruit-driven, with perfumed aromas of wild strawberries, potpourri and cassia bark. The palate is medium-bodied with finely integrated tannins and precise acidity, displaying notes of blood oranges, fresh raspberries, baking spices and graphite. Very refined.

Complex aromas of briar, sap, spice, underbrush, cherry, blueberry and earth. Soft, mouth-filling, layered and complex on the palate. There’s a core of red and blue fruits, along with a wild brambly edge and Asian spice. The tannins are round, firm and shapely and the acidity delivers cut.

There is instant appeal here with spiced black cherry, dried raspberry, plum, spice, violet and a splash of aromatic rosehip. A lively start to a wine that embraces the kind of middle ground many drinkers enjoy, offering top drinking now but with the ability to age a little further should the desire hit. The perfect drinking proposition! Spices rule a little more than herbals as they join both black and red berry fruits on a palate trimmed nicely by oak and framed in fine, persistent tannins and bright acidity. An elegant Pinot expressing what the Mornington Peninsula does so well with the Pinot grape.

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front

Red Hill. Oldest block planted in 1987, with more planting in 1997, 2001, and 2007. Flowering basil, red fruit, a little spice and orange peel. It’s a lively wine, sweet red fruit, light fine grained tannin, though not a lot of structure here, and the fruit presents as a little thin and jammy, a light earthiness, all strawberry conserve and kind of minty to close. It does have charm, though it’s maybe a little light on, and does not carry much depth of flavour. Nice enough, mind you.

Really pale ruby hue. The flavours are reticent, however, a good airing reveals menthol, red currants, cherries with a pop of sweetness and alpine herbs. The palate is light-weight, the tannins sinewy if faint and acidity remains in charge. There’s not a great deal of depth within but it’s a pleasant drink and best in the short term.
