It was a mistake to taste this just before lunch. My tastebuds starting craving jamón, salted almonds and Spanish olives. Plus, a big glass of this delicious wine – to drink. It’s such a cheery, juicy number full of red plums, cherries and a splash of cola/sarsaparilla and fruit pastilles, with a sprinkling of dried herbs. Lighter framed with fine, grainy tannins and uplifting acidity, you can certainly chill this down in warmer weather. Either way, an excellent wine.

From Jo Perry’s home-grown grapes in Margaret River. She knows her way around temp from extensive time in Spain working away at wine stuff there. Leans into a more joven style too. So pure, so pretty, vibrant and ultra crunchy, thirst-quenching wine of vitality and energy. Red cherry, sarsparilla, cranberry and dark plums. Skinsy tannins, tense and shimmering with vitality, extends its flavours beautiful, a trill of frisky, sweet spice lingers with cola and bitter herbs in the mix. Just fantastic. What a ripper drink. And yet enough structure and savoury and tannin and layers to fruit character to bring it all home. A chill would go nice too.

The nose is perfumed and herb-driven, with aromas of blood plums, dried herbs and cured meat. The palate is medium-bodied with focused acidity and grippy tannins, giving notes of pink grapefruit, boysenberries and sweet spices. Very delicate with a firm tannin profile.
