The property consists of 480 acres of vineyard land producing approximately 125,000 cases of estate bottled Chardonnay.
The estate began bottling their own production only in 1974; prior to that date, their wines were sold as bulk wine to other wine companies.
Chateau de Maligny has been honored, by receiving the highest awards possible in nearly every international wine competition. They have also received evert gold medal of any consequence that is awarded in France!
Chardonnay, the inimitable variety of wine grape used in Chablis, is the source of excellent wines known for their rich bouquet, subtlety, and beautiful greenish-gold color. Here, the tending of vines and the vinification are carried out with the greatest respect for the traditions of the Chablis region.
The Chablis vintages from Jean Durup vineyards go wonderfully with oysters and shellfish, as well as with all kinds of fresh and saltwater fish, grilled or poached, served with mousseline sauce of white butter. They also provide a great accompaniment to fine charcuterie, white meats and a number of cheeses.
