Tasting Notes

Inky purple in the glass, this Saperavi is all dark berries, ripe plum and a little lift of violet. The palate is dry and firm, with concentrated fruit, bright acidity and a savoury spice twist. Chalky tannins frame the finish, leaving the fruit sitting neatly alongside that earthy qvevri grip.

Product Highlights

The 2022 Marani Saperavi Qvevri Red Dry is a straight-talking example of why Georgia’s qvevri wines have captured so much attention. From the Khashmi zone in Kakheti, this is 100% Saperavi made the old way – fermented and aged on skins for six months in buried clay vessels. The result is a wine with depth, structure and that distinct earthy texture you only get from qvevri.

It’s dark in the glass, with aromas of blackberry, plum and a lift of violet. On the palate, the fruit is concentrated but fresh, framed by chalky tannins and a clean, savoury finish. With 95 points from the International Wine Challenge, it’s proof that tradition and quality still walk hand in hand in Georgia.
