Product Highlights
It was December 2018. The Queen of Wine herself, Jancis Robinson, who once helped curate the royal cellar, famously expressed disappointment in her $900+ RRP Coche-Dury Meursault, one of the world’s most lauded and sought-after wines.
So she reached for a bottle left over from a previous tasting: Dog Point Chardonnay. She poured it side by side with the Coche. What happened next was unexpected.
“When I also poured some Dog Point Chardonnay left over from a few nights previously, we agreed it was the more exciting wine. And, with its light reduction/struck match whiff, it was very similar in some respects to how many of us remember the Coche-Dury wines of the first decade of this century. Except of course for the price.”
- Jancis Robinson
It’s a story well told in the Dog Point Chardonnay legacy, but this wine continues to impress year after year. And 2022? It’s got the smart British wine aristocracy at Decanter dishing out 95 points. Both The Real Review and James Suckling were just as charmed, each awarding it 94 points.
There hasn’t been a single Dog Point vintage in the past five years that hasn’t left us wanting more.
Best Chardonnay in NZ? It’s a serious contender. Grand Cru beating? Maybe. But we all know which one we’d rather pay for.
