This has got a bit of get up and go. It offers a healthy serve of dark berried fruit flavour but then it’s laden with both spice and florals and it has a bit of kick to the tannin too. It has substance. This is the best Rieske Shiraz I’ve seen in some years. It’s clean, pure, complex-enough and substantial.

Inky in appearance, opaque. Dark, brooding aromas of plum, mulberrry, chocolate, liqueured cherry and sweet spice. Powerful, darkly fruited and opulent in flavour. There’s real weight and force of fruit, but the savoury, drying tannins and bright acidity do a sterling job in maintaining balance and cut. – 8 OCTOBER 2023

Lots of northern Barossa bang for buck here. Packed with deep satsuma plum, black cherry and blackberry fruit, studded with baking spice, licorice, dark chocolate, panforte, violets and earth. Some grilled fig notes join in on the palate, with puckering acidity, and compressed sandy tannins that sport a real chocolatey feel setting up a darkly spiced, cassis-rich finish.
