Aromas of red cherries, ground cooking spice, dried herbs and bark. Medium- to full-bodied with silky, fruit-soaked tannins. Rather expressive and bright with driving acidity and lovely spicy complexity. Lingering and steady.

A delicious mid-weighted, everyday wine plying a chord of savouriness over overt fruit. I'd drink this from lunch until dinner, all-inclusive. Mulberry leaf, pimento, sappy cherry and dried tobacco. A lovely tow of gentle freshness melds with peppery tannins, lissome but pliant, reminding me of Chinon from the Loire. 60/20/20% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/sangiovese

I've loved everything I've tasted from Murdoch Hill in the past couple of weeks, and this 2021 Red Blend is no exception. It has brambly red berries and black tea spice on the nose, while in the mouth, the wine is balanced, satisfying and infused with fine tannins. When I pick up a non-discriminate "red blend," I do want it to be something like this. The acidity that laces its way through the finish is salty and fine—keeps things refreshing.

It is cabernet and something something. Adelaide Hills. Murdoch Hill. Go in. Has that stewed rhubarb scent and flavour with blackcurrants, cassis, violets in the mix. Floral in a way, pretty too, lively to taste, lifted on edgy acidity and feeling a little unsettled but ultimately vibrant and crisp as a medium weight red wine. Cruises along ok, sits in the glass with easy pleasure and freshness, some detail, a lick of tannin, an edginess. OK. Nothing fancy here but delivers satisfaction and integrity for the bucks, it feels.
