A supple and soft red of distinct red berry fruitiness measured by choc-mocha wood influence and faint minty highlights. A beautiful flow to this wine, mellowness riding on fine waves of tannin and orange-y acidity. Easy pleasure here, it's a bold and brassy wine but with high polish applied. One for cellaring long, too.

I think in 2021, in South Australia, maybe the excellent vintage produced a few too many wines of lavish fruit sweetness. It’s just an observation. Sometimes the lesser vintages produce more interesting wines. etc. etc. I like this wine well enough. It’s full of ripe red fruits and blueberry, mint, some toasty mocha wood, blackberry and something of a fresh picked blackberry tang to acidity too, though there’s lots of Clare Valley flavour here, with a firmness and almost ironstone feel to tannin, and the finish has some grip and presence. I once knew an Irish bloke from an older generation (though a Scotsman would work equally well here, for this parable), who said ‘You’re just a bunch of pleasure seekers’. Well, this could well be a wine for the pleasure seeker, as it’s heady and ripe, and delivers plenty of satisfaction. These wines tend to age pretty well too, so if you can defer your pleasure seeking for a few years, you may well be well rewarded for your abstinence.
