Jeremy Oliver
A sumptuous, long and seamless Filsell of a fuller and more opulent style than the label's traditions, but a very worthwhile one at that. Its sweetly oaked core of cassis, dark plums, cassis and redcurrants overlies creamy notes of cedar and dark chocolate. Underpinned by a firm, grainy spine, it moves with plushness and restrained power towards a lingering finish. Give it time.

Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion
Deeply coloured, with rich fruit notes of blackberry, boysenberry, black cherry and blood plum. Hints of licorice, dark chocolate, star anise, olive tapenade, panforte, oak spice and kirsch. Impressive depth of black fruit within, dusted with baking spices and a light tobacco tone, chalky tannin grip and a velvety, sustained finish.

2023 - Decanter World Wine Awards
Sweet nose of fruitcake and dark chocolate. Rich and very ripe, big wine with a generous palate and lavish tanins.

Mike Bennie - The Wine Front
Ye olde faithful, for some.
Lusty red of richness and potency, sweet/ripe fruit, toasty, chocolatey oak and smoothness. Feels quite one dimensional to taste, the perfume saying more is on the way than follows, but pleasing in its polish, roundness and general lush feel. Finishes a bit shorter than expected and a bit more diffuse with a slightly too bitey lemony tang following. Still, it does the Barossa neck oil thing pretty well.
