Musar Jeune red vines are from our organically certified vineyards in the western Bekaa Valley and the 2021 vintage was harvested in late August and early September. The range of Muar Jeune wines which includes white and rosé, is produced from younger Bekaa Valley vines at 1,000 metres above sea level - unfettered by oak, and displaying classic Musar characteristics, these wines are best enjoyed in their youth. The climate and harvest of 2021 was for us, a return to “the good old days” where everything was stable, consistent with no extreme conditions. We know that 2021 will be an elegant vintage, full of fragrance and already showing lots of potential. Pruning and ploughing began in December 2020, followed by a January and February of rain and snow. April began with some cold days but it was warmer by mid-month and rain on the 1st May helped to develop greening of the vines. June was mild with no exceptionally high temperatures, thus flowering occurred in perfect conditions. July became our hottest month of the year, which was beneficial for the grapes, helping the vines reach veraison and to bring about the change of colour of our red grape varieties.
The grapes were fermented in concrete vats with temperatures between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius. The wines were blended in March 2022 and then rested in the vats until being bottled during the summer of 2022. Musar Jeune Red is unfiltered and made according to our non-interventionist winemaking philosophy
