Exudes the gorgeous perfumes that permeate the entire range, reaching even greater complexity here. Pine, nutmeg, orange blossom and grapefruit peel lace the strawberry canvas. There is a joyful buoyance to the fruit as a blood orange juiciness streams through the palate. Tannins are fine, finessed and intricately embedded. As seductive as this is now, it promises more to come. The estate's Riservas were born with the new generation – Bruno’s children Luisa and Francesco. The latter is now at the winemaking helm. Made from two selected parcels, this sees a whole-berry fermentation with 50 days of maceration. Ageing is in 16-hectolitre French oak casks.
Brilliant, medium-dense ruby-garnet colour. Notes of strawberry and fresh cherry on the nose, fine thyme herbs in the background. Very polished on the palate, lots of fine-meshed tannins, shows good tension, firm drive on the finish, pithy.

The Bruno Rocca 2020 Barbaresco Currà (with 3,000 bottles made) opens to a medium ruby hue. The aromas develop nicely in the glass to encompass a broad and rich spectrum of dark fruits, pulverized stone and a spicy hint of dried licorice root. The Rocca family (Bruno, Francesco and Luisa) does a great job when it comes to drawing out the softer and more delicate nuances of Nebbiolo.

A nicely austere and stony expression that’s chalky and tannic. The wet-stone minerality overrides the grapefruit and fresh red cherries. Tightly packed and minerally on the palate, with a medium to full body and an uncompromisingly austere finish. Definitely more bones than flesh here. Drink from 2025.

The 2020 Barbaresco Currà is redolent of kirsch, chalk, white pepper, dried herbs and mint. Aromatic and yet deep, with terrific balance, the 2020 is very nicely done. Most importantly the 2020 does not have the hard edges that are sometimes found in wines from this site. Bright saline accents drive the persistent, deceptively understated finish. I very much like the translucent finesse here.

The 2020 Barbaresco Currà is classy, elegant and polished. It doesn't have the volume of the 2019, but instead offers terrific vibrancy and nuance in more understated style. Bottling a few months earlier than in the past works so well, the 2020 retains terrific freshness and verve for a warm year. Hints of spice, macerated cherry, dried flowers and cedar linger on the articulate, persistent finish. This nervy, mid-weight Barbaresco has a ton to offer.

Mostly floral, with a sweet violet aroma allied to red cherry. Slightly spirity and quite simple but very precise. The wine is full, refreshing, with a light frame of tannins and not without some rusticity, but overall well balanced.

A lively interplay of fresh cherries, wild herbs, and freshly snapped twigs captivates the senses, while spiced tea and rosewood add an alluring depth. The palate, mouthwatering and lifted, tingles with an electric acidity that ignites a burst of tart cranberries and wild red berries. Savory notes emerge, leading to a subtle earthy finish that lingers. Drink 2025 to 2040
