Tasting Notes

Instantly fresh and fleshy. Some overt single-varietal cabernet and shiraz fruits still sit separate …time will unite.. Expected liquorice, stewed plum and blackcurrant, with dark chocolate and mocha in the background. Savoury and salivating – mouth-watering, succulent acidity. This acidity interplays with integrated tannins – coating the mouth and adding length.. Yes, impressive length, with concentration, and a mandatory Bin 389 ‘sweet’ core; oak completely absorbed. Polished and refined.

Product Highlights

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with the 2019 Bin 389, a special Lunar New Year release, with a year of the Snake themed bottle,  that’s all about strength, generosity, and a touch of luxury. Often called ‘Baby Grange,’ Bin 389 blends the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz, creating a wine that’s bold, balanced, and full of character.

First made in 1960 by Penfolds legend Max Schubert, this wine has earned its place as a fan favourite. Aged in barrels that once held Grange, it’s packed with Penfolds’ signature style, rich fruit, seamless oak, and that generous mid-palate it’s famous for.

With a string of glowing 96-point reviews, the 2019 vintage is definitely one for the ages. It’s beautifully balanced, with Cabernet bringing finesse and Shiraz adding depth, all wrapped up in silky tannins and a long, smooth finish.
