Product Highlights

This wine is history in a bottle, and it is quintessentially Tuscan. Philip brings together the fragrance and elegance of wines produced in the famous area of Chianti Classico with the opulence and power of wines from the more recently discovered Maremma region.

Born in 1730 in Florence, Italy, Philip Mazzei was a man of many, many talents. He was highly respected and regarded among prominent men from all walks of life. Throughout Europe and the southern states of America philosophers, merchants, businessmen, politicians, diplomats, presidents and noblemen all sought Mazzei’s friendship and advice - among them American presidents & Italian royalty.

This luscious Super Tuscan is named after, and dedicated to, this illustrious ancestor of the winemaking Mazzei family.

In the glass, you’ll find a deep and enticing purple colour, with seductive aromas of mocha and cherry, with a gentle toastiness and faint herbaceousness. The body is full and ripe, with firm tannins and excellent length.

“Very tight and firm with polished tannins that are poised and creamy-textured. The fruit shows plenty of blackberry and raspberry character. Lightly chewy finish. Better after 2024, when it will have opened up.” 94 points, James Suckling.

Lucky for you, it’s almost 2024! We think it is drinking absolutely superbly now. The combination of Cabernet Sauvignon from two different estates creates aromatic complexity, depth of colour and powerful structure while simultaneously lending minerality, elegance and finesse to the wine.
