James Halliday - Halliday Wine Companion
Standard Barry vinification. Fruit is its strong point, supple and balanced blackberry and plum are refreshed by moderate alcohol (and the vintage). Excellent value.

Christina Pickard - Wine Enthusiast
There's lovely spice and purity of fruit on this great value sipper from a long-standing Clare Valley estate. You do need patience, though. After time in glass or decanter, the earthy, barnyard notes blow off, replaced by plums, mint, dried florals and warm pavement. There's power on the palate and chalky, taut tannins but there's restraint and freshness amidst silky fruit and winter warming spice.

Josh Raynolds - Vinous
Inky ruby. Spice- and smoke-accented dark berries, licorice and a hint of cola on the fragrant nose. Silky and focused on the palate, showing good energy to black and blue fruit and vanilla flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Gentle tannins frame the long, smooth finish, which echoes the blue fruit and cola notes.
Joe Czerwinski - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Raspberries and cherries abound on the nose of the 2017 Lodge Hill Shiraz. It's medium-bodied, built around a core of mouthwatering acids and supple tannins that turn silky on the cocoa-tinged finish. Drink it on the young side.
Decanter
A Clare Valley Shiraz from the Lodge Hill (altitude at 480m), one of the highest points in the Clare Valley. Purple coloured, with bright sweet red cherries and raspberry on the nose. Refreshing acidity and juicy red berries on the palate, with moderate but fine tannins. This is a quaffable and salivating example with warming mouthfeel to finish.
Wine Spectator
Plump cherry and blackberry flavors bear a note of butterscotch, with toast and spice details and a hint of espresso lingering on the finish.
Ralph Kyte-Powell - The Real Review
Aromas of eucalypt, peppercorn, berries and mint place this in a fairly traditional Clare Valley type. It tastes slightly vegetal and herbal, but not unripe, with firm tannins in support.
2020 - Decanter World Wine Awards
Bright and breezy with raspberry, liquorice and violet leading on to a blueberry palate laced with supple tannins.
Award: Bronze - DWWA 2020
