More whole bunches in the ferment, more time on the skins and less new oak are just a few changes made by winemaker, Hedley, to get less flavour sweetness in this year's pinot noir. An elegant, slightly leafy pinot noir with cherry, raspberry, floral, spice, and sappy dried herb flavours. It's a fleshy, complex wine with good weight. Good value

Attractive raspberry and lavender aromas. Juicy red fruit with some herbal overtones and cedar-like oak and plenty of depth and length.

Bright and expressive, with sage-scented cherry and raspberry fruit flavors that have an appealingly robust quality and dense tannins. Drink now. 2,688 cases made, 500 cases imported.

Framingham's 2017 Pinot Noir features cinnamon and clove notes, plus dark cherry fruit. It's medium-bodied and sturdy, with attractive cola flavors, a firm, unyielding mouthfeel and a crisp, mouthwatering finish. Despite the tannins, I don't see this becoming more generous over time, so drink it over the next few years.

Tasting Notes
Sweetly fruited Pinot Noir is world famous in Marlborough, but we’ve made it our own by including a few whole bunches. It’s a tricky process, and much more labour-intensive, but when done well it turns the wine to velvet. The stems build silkier tannins and lend a heavenly fragrance. Our final twist is a turn in a smoky oak barrel. Just long enough to add a few layers of savoury and spice complexity to those classic cranberry, cherry and plum fruit flavours.
Winemakers Note
Fruit comes from four sites in the Wairau Valley, with a mixture of clones being represented. Each parcel was hand-picked and vinified separately; the amount of whole bunch included and time on skins varied according to parcel. Overall the wine has about 10% whole bunch content, an average of 20 days on skins and was aged in French oak barriques for 10 months, of which around 20% were new. Bottled without fining or filtration.
