Nestled in the heart of the renowned terroirs of Moussy and Pierry in the Coteaux Sud d’Epernay region of France, lies the family-owned estate of JM Sélèque. For over half a century, the Sélèque family has been dedicated to crafting exceptional Champagne, with a passion and commitment that has been passed down from generation to generation.
It was in the 1960s that Henri Sélèque first planted vines on these prestigious soils and began bottling his wines in 1969. His son, Richard, an oenologist, then took the reins and ushered in a new era of modernity and technical precision, while also expanding the family's wine heritage. Today, it is Jean-Marc, the third generation, who proudly carries on the family legacy with a deep respect for the land and a determination to produce Champagne that truly reflects the unique terroir.
At JM Sélèque, the focus is on producing Champagne with authenticity and a true expression of the terroir. With a strong belief in ecologically balanced viticulture, Jean-Marc has implemented sustainable practices in the vineyards to preserve the natural balance of the land. This results in wines that are not only delicious but also reflective of the unique characteristics of the Coteaux Sud d’Epernay.
Situated between the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs, the Coteaux Sud d’Epernay offers a diverse and complex range of terroirs. The slopes, cut by the Cubry River, boast a mosaic of soils ranging from clay to sand to flint, all bound together by the common thread of chalk. It is on these soils that the three great grape varieties of Champagne – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier – flourish, allowing JM Sélèque to create truly exceptional Champagnes with a distinct sense of place.
With a deep respect for tradition and a dedication to excellence, JM Sélèque continues to be a shining star in the Champagne region. Each bottle is a testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment of the Sélèque family, making them a producer not to be missed for any Champagne connoisseur.
