Georges Remy, a third-generation producer from the grand cru village of Bouzy in Montagne de Reims, carries on his family's legacy of grape growing and champagne production with pride and passion. The Rémy family's history in Champagne dates back to 1829, when they acquired their first vines in Bouzy. However, it wasn't until after WWII in 1950 that Georges's grandfather made the bold decision to stop selling grapes and instead produce his own wines.
This tradition continued for a generation, until Georges's father, who had a deep love for the vines, decided to solely focus on grape growing in 1989. But Georges, with a Viticulture Oenology BTS certificate from Avize and work experience in Bordeaux, felt a strong pull towards winemaking. He returned home to assist his father in the vines, learning from his expertise and becoming a vineyard consultant for other wine growers.
Georges's passion for winemaking led him to experiment with producing still red wine from a small parcel of old vine pinot noir. Impressed by his son's Bouzy rouge attempts, Georges's parents offered him a 0.15 hectare parcel of pinot noir in lieu-dit Les Vaudayants planted by sélection massale in 1975. This marked the beginning of Georges's own production of still red wine, launching the third generation of the Rémy family's history in grape growing and champagne production.
In 2014, Georges expanded his repertoire by producing sparkling wine, using traditional methods and his expertise in grape growing and winemaking. Today, with a maximum of 200 words, Georges continues to carry on the family tradition and create exceptional wines that reflect his dedication, knowledge, and love for the land and its fruits.
