Château Doisy-Daene

Château Doisy-Daëne is a premier Cru Classé estate located in Barsac, a commune in the Graves region of Bordeaux. The estate is known for producing some of the finest sweet wines in the world, made primarily from the white grape varieties Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.\n\nThe history of Château Doisy-Daëne dates back to the 18th century when the land was acquired by the Doisy family. The estate was purchased by Jean-Michel Daëne in the late 19th century and has been owned by his descendants ever since. Over the years, the estate has been recognized for its outstanding quality and consistent production of high-quality sweet wines.\n\nChâteau Doisy-Daëne has a total of 33 hectares of vineyards, planted mainly with Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, but also including small amounts of Muscadelle, Ugni Blanc and Colombard. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils, which give the wines their distinctive characters of dried apricots, honey and botanicals.\n\nThe winemaking at Château Doisy-Daëne is traditional, with minimal intervention in the cellar. The wines are fermented in stainless steel, and the use of oak is kept to a minimum. As a result, the wines maintain their freshness and purity.\n\nThe estate produces four different sweet wines: Château Doisy-Daëne, Doisy-Daëne Sec, Doisy-Daëne Vieilles Vignes, and Doisy-Daëne Cuvée Alexandre. The Château Doisy-Daëne is a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, and is the most widely available. The Doisy-Daëne Sec is a dry white made from Semillon, and the Doisy-Daëne Vieilles Vignes is a blend of Semillon and Muscadelle. The Doisy-Daëne Cuvée Alexandre is a late harvest blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.\n\nChâteau Doisy-Daëne has firmly established itself as one of the world's premier producers of sweet wines. The estate has a long history of excellence and continues to produce wines of the highest quality. The wines are elegant, complex and wonderfully balanced, and will age gracefully for many years.
