Chateau Cos Labory

The Château takes its name from its geographical location on the hill of Cos and from the name of François Labory, owner until 1845. In 2023, Michel Reybier and his family opened a new page in the history of Château Cos Labory, Fifth Classified Growth in 1855, located in Saint-Estèphe. In line with a heritage perspective, this initiative pays tribute to Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, who himself acquired this property in 1847. Michel Reybier "will be keen to perpetuate the independence of the estate towards a project of excellence driven by this great terroir of Saint-Estèphe." The terroir of Cos Labory, positioned on the deep gravel plateau of the Cos hill with its clays and limestone base, benefits from its proximity to the Gironde estuary and the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, which moderates meteorological excesses. The 35-hectare vineyard is made up of several islets, three of which form the historic heart at the top of the plateau, with the oldest vines that give rise to the Grand Vin, Château Cos Labory. As a whole, the vineyard, with an average age of 38 years, is planted with half Cabernet Sauvignon, a third Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
