Callejuela

Callejuela, a renowned producer from el Marco de Jerez, stands out for its exquisite Palomino wines. The business was founded in 1980 by Francisco Blanco Martínez, known as 'El Blanquito', who started as an almacenista de mosto, farming his own vineyards and selling the base wine to bottling houses. Today, his sons Pepe and Paco Blanco continue the legacy of their father, managing the 28 hectares of vineyards spread across four pagos. Callejuela's vineyards are located in two main areas - Sanluúcar de Barrameda and Jerez. In Sanluúcar, they have vines in Pagos Callejuela and el Hornillo, while in Jerez, they own parts of pagos Macharnudo and Añina. With a total of 700 botas in their bodega, 500 of which are used for the biological ageing process, Callejuela takes pride in producing a wide range of sherry styles, including table wines, fortified Finos labelled as Manzanilla, and other unique blends. What sets Callejuela apart is their dynamic approach to winemaking. While some wines are aged biologically, others are aged statically, giving each bottle a distinct character and flavour. The terroir of origin, along with the bodega's location, plays a crucial role in the final product, highlighting the importance given to the quality of the grapes and the ageing process. Established as a brand in 1998, Callejuela officially entered the Manzanilla market in 2005. However, it wasn't until 2015 that their current face was introduced to the world, showcasing the producer's continuous evolution and innovation. With a focus on excellence and a dedication to preserving tradition, Callejuela's wines are a true representation of the rich and diverse Spanish winemaking culture.
