A bright-framed grenache, shiraz, mourvèdre blend showing characters of red plum, raspberry and dark cherry fruits with hints of spice, ginger cake, iced tea, almond blossom, dried citrus rind and earth. Lovely red and dark fruits on the palate, sweetly spiced with a bright plummy acidity, fine, powdery tannins and some nice energy on the palate. Lovely drinking.

This is more restrained than many, with an almost Old-World sensibility, which is not just about the bomb of ripe fruit. Spicy and fresh, with peppercorns, berries and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. Firm and dusty tannins seamlessly coat the palate, with juicy fruit and a long and tightly wound finish. Outstanding quality.

This well-pitched Barossan 2022 blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre is a real crowd-pleaser with its dense aromas of mulberry and soy sauce, plus well-integrated oak influences. It has good focus, with some more jammy flavors emerging, and a solid backbone of tannins. It is young, and it should build nicely in bottle.
