I like prosecco as a joyous ode to all that is visceral in wine. Its fruit and froth can be thirst-slaking and joyous when done well, with no reason to compare the style to, for example, Champagne. It is a completely different wine. This hits all the right notes: apple and pear gelato sluiced by a gentle bead of fizz and sherbety acidity. Fresh, flavourful and palpably dry. Bravo!

A meld of grapes from the King Valley base, with a dash of cooler Alpine Valley material, rendered with the Charmat technique. The result is autumnal fruit flavours and froth, finishing dry, punchy and appetising, if not a bit callow. Yields?

Very pale colour, almost water-white. Yeasty aroma, simple and very young - must be 2014. There's also a faint herbal note. The palate is likewise light, simple and very young, with a clean dryness to it, but also it's a little bland. A very basic fizzy wine.
