Striking cassis compote, raspberry and blueberry notes unfurl and spill over onto a richly textured palate with deep-seated tannins and a whisper of smoked charcuterie evolution. Engaging and mouth-filling with a lush fruit cake ending. Award: Platinum - DWWA 2024

Ray Jordan - Winepilot

One of the most famous wines from the Barossa. Just as Lehmann did, the fruit is sourced from established family growers in the Barossa. A very good vintage so you get what you expect – a very good wine. Blackberry and a subtle blue fruit influence with characteristic dark plum and chocolate. It has such vibrancy throughout with the combination of firmish fine tannins and liberal use of oak controlling a very long lingering finish.

A deep, measured and elegant Barossa shiraz whose complex and faintly meaty bouquet of blackberries, cassis, redcurrants and blood plums reveals fresh, faintly chocolatey cedar/vanilla oak lifted by suggestions of cracked pepper, eastern spices and baked earth. It's long and complete, unfolding a charming drive of flavour underpinned by firm, fine tannins and building towards a lingering finish of dark fruit, licorice and a suggestion of roasting meats.

Tom Kline - Winepilot

The most premium offering in the Peter Lehmann stable. Lifted aromas of vanilla bean and cracked cardamom pod unfold into mulberry and boysenberry before descending into cut leather, earthy liquorice root, black tea, coal and ground coffee. A good swirl of the glass brings it all together making for solid complexity. The palate is full bodied and sapid with a creamy texture. Blackberry, brown spice, mulberry, leather and mocha notes burst through the mouth before an integrated swathe of graphite tannins frame it all to a finish of long length. Leather and earth in the mouth perfume. There’s class here in balancing a darkly fruited and bitter profile with lift and poise. A food wine of course, singing with the likes of char-grilled steak and mushroom sauce.

Bold chocolate, ripe blackberries and sweet spices on the nose. Svelte and plush on the palate, with sleek tannins gliding through the ripe but fresh fruit. It has an almost full body and a lengthy finish. Very high quality, but better give it one or two more years to let the wood influence meld.
