A quintessential Bordeaux blend in descending order of makeup from cabernet to petit verdot, franc and merlot, made sustainably and aged for 24 months in French and Russian wood. Berry and cherry scents. A seam of well appointed oak. Green bean. Good freshness. Bay-leaf. This is very forward of fruit, yet the tannins are an immaculately woven stage for mid to long-term ageing.

The fruit blooms ripe and bold but it’s the tannin that holds the reins. The stated alcohol is only 13.5 but it feels and tastes riper; it presents a beefy, bountiful face to the world. The quality territory we are in here is clearly pretty good. It’s only just now starting to show signs of development, as a four year old, so you’d imagine it will hold and mature for a good while yet.
