Put bluntly, few look outside the Hunter Valley when it comes to quality Semillon. That said, Peter Lehmann has a track record of good value and full of flavour examples of this grape, indeed selling truckloads of great value Sem over the years, but they have also made a name for their top example, the 'Margaret' (named after Peter's much-loved wife). This is another very fine, indeed exceptional, Semillon which proves that the grape can age and improve in places other than the Hunter. Still a vibrantly youthful pale yellow. Beeswax, honey, olive oil notes and lanolin. No question that when well done, this grape can age and impress beyond Hunter borders. Nicely balanced, lingering impressively. This is mid-weight on the finish. Mature no but there is no reason why it won't go on for another three to five years.
