Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Clarkdale, Arizona, Chateau Tumbleweed is a producer with a unique story to tell. Comprised of four close friends, two husband-and-wife teams, this is a collaboration born out of a shared passion for winemaking and a desire to break away from their previous jobs in the industry.
With over 30 years of combined experience working for other wineries in Arizona, the team at Chateau Tumbleweed finally took the leap to focus on their own project. And what a project it is. The team's friendship, love for absurdity, and diverse set of skills in vineyard management, winemaking, sales, and administration, make them a formidable force in the world of wine production.
Their journey began in 2011, with the crafting of their first wine, a mere three barrels. And after three successful vintages at the Four-Eight Wineworks Winemaker's Cooperative in Camp Verde, the team took a bold step and purchased a building in Clarkdale, which they transformed into one of the town's first commercial wineries and tasting rooms.
At Chateau Tumbleweed, they are all about producing exceptional wines, but they don't take themselves too seriously. This is evident in their approach to winemaking, which is aimed at making wine more approachable and fun, rather than stuffy and intimidating. They firmly believe in the potential of high-elevation growing regions in the Southwest and are constantly learning from the land and their wines.
The team at Chateau Tumbleweed is grateful to be part of the ever-evolving wine industry and to have the freedom to do things their way. With a maximum of 200 words, it's clear that this producer is one to watch in the world of American wine.
