During the 1960s Giuseppe Inama, the estate’s founder, began purchasing small plots of vineyards in the heart of the Soave Classico, beginning with Foscarino in 1965. His idea was to assemble the best vineyards of old-vine Garganega, and fashion from them wines capable of restoring Soave’s reputation. Foscarino is indeed today one of the most important sites in Soave, grown on purely volcanic basaltic lava soils, and both the alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentation occur in used, small French oak.
