Coreografia is a producer from Spain with a unique story that sets them apart from others in the wine industry. Founded by Tatjana Peceric, a former dancer from Serbia, Coreografia's journey began with a love of traditional folk dance. However, it was Peceric's visits to France that sparked a new passion for the country's food and wine culture. This ultimately led her to pursue a career in winemaking, studying oenology in Montpellier and gaining experience in various wine regions around the world.
Her path eventually brought her to Priorat, where she was scouted by Dominik Huber of Terroir al Limit. Peceric quickly established herself as an integral part of Huber's Montsant project, Terroir Sense Fronteres, before venturing out on her own to create Coreografia in 2018.
Unlike many producers in the region, Peceric's focus is on the cooler, higher altitude vineyards of Cornudella de Montsant. Here, she works with a close friend who farms biodynamically, resulting in a "beautiful biodynamic garden" that produces exceptional grapes. These grapes, from 50-year-old vines rooted in light red clay with gypsum veins, are the foundation of Coreografia's wines.
Peceric firmly believes that Montsant's terroirs are on par with those of Priorat, despite not sharing the same level of fame. And the quality of her wines certainly supports this belief. They exhibit a unique mineral signature from the rocky soils of the region and possess a freshness and lightness rarely found in Southern Spanish wines. With a nod to her dance background, Peceric's first release, Pas de Deux, is a graceful blend of Garnacha and Carignan that perfectly showcases the terroir of Montsant.
In just a few short years, Coreografia has become a standout producer in the Spanish wine scene, offering a true expression of the region's terroir and a beautiful marriage of old world techniques and modern winemaking. Keep an eye on this producer, as they continue to impress and captivate with each new release.
