The Brief
This Winter Warmers Dozen - Valued at $343 has just landed at The Wine Collective and is currently available for purchase. Tasting notes, producer information and critic reviews will be added shortly.
This pack contains 1 bottle of the following:

Reschke Bull Traders Shiraz 2020
The Reschke ‘Bull Trader’ collection is a versatile range of wines, a step-up in terms of weight and complexity from the R-Series. The red grapes mature slightly longer in the vineyard, developing richer dark red and black fruit flavours, while tannin levels are also increased from the low yields and high ratio of skins to juice during fermentation. Maturation in French and American oak barrels until flavours have integrated and tannins softened ensures that the wines are ready for enjoyment while retaining maturation potential.

Tahbilk Family Series Shiraz Viognier 2019
This Shiraz, sourced from a selected parcel of old vines dating back to the 1920s is every bit the classic wine too. Kept back at the winery for deliberate ageing, with the 2011 vintage the last release, we have first exclusive access to this very limited, very special 160th-anniversary edition and we couldn't be more excited. It's rare enough to get an eight-year-old wine cellar release now, let alone one from vines nearing their hundredth birthday. Yet here we are, with a perfectly formed, earthy, powerfully built yet still silky Shiraz ready to drink now or in another twenty years time.

Idle Hill Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
The Idle Hill range represents prominent varietal flavours typical of the Barossa. Our winemakers have selected some of the best parcels of fruit from across the region to produce fruit driven yet complex wines with solid tannin structure. Deep red in colour, with classic cabernet characters of cassis and blackberry, finishing with fine, silky tannins.

Dalfarras Tempranillo 2019
Generous spice and savoury aromas on a palate of dark plum, cherries, earthy notes and a little pucker-up tannin on the finish.

Gancedo Bierzo Mencia 2020
If you’re a Spanish wine lover of old then you’ll know what this is about. If not, think aromatic reds (Pinot Noir, Gamay), but with more body and depth of flavour. This one is full of red berries and blue fruits with liquorice and allspice, topped off with a dusting of coffee and chocolate. It sits at 14% alcohol but hides it well under fine, silky tannins.

Tertini Southern Highlands Pinot Noir 2019
This #2 top ranking Pinot Noir from The Real review is sure to delight and surprise you, and bring the wines of this region into focus. This wine is deep red in colour with cherry, spice and forest floor aromas. It is medium bodied with light red fruits on the palate complemented by earthy undertones. The wine ends with a lingering silky finish.

Five Geese McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017
ColourAttractive deep black-red.Aromalifting black fruit and blue fruit with touch of violet and toast oakPalateSoft and rich berry fruits on the palate. Fine tannins on the finish allow the berry flavours to linger elegantly. This is primarily from Sue’s Block 11 Shiraz at Blewitt Springs and shows the typical, more spicy and savoury style of this sub-region of McLaren Vale.

Grove Estate Hilltops Shiraz 2020
Purple and delightfully youthful in the glass. Lifted aromas of blueberry, violets, spice, sarsparilla, cloves and pepper. The palate is all mid-weighted, fleshy, textured, layered and long. Lashings of blue fruits, sour cherry, anise, cola, brambles and all with a sappy, complexing edge. The acidity and the tannins work beautifully with the lively and plush fruit and provide cut, structure and grip. Outstanding value!

XO Wine Co Grenache 2021
This small batch Grenache from McLaren Vale was a combination of three unique vineyards with different fermentation methods to create a wine with layers and complexity. It was handcrafted to produce a wine portraying the gently sloping sandy loam landscape with tranquil tree lined creek peaceful vineyard views in which it is grown. This refined and elegant, yet bold McLaren Vale Grenache was produced to showcase one of McLaren Vales greatest varietals. Rich and powerful, yet spicy and balanced - great example of newstyle McLaren Vale - 289 six packs produced

Pagos de Araiz Navarra Joven 2020
Sourced from the up-and-coming region of Navarra in central Spain, this blend of Tempranillo (with some Garnacha and Merlot) is that it is the perfect introduction to Spanish wine - an amazing, juicy, medium-bodied red with fine tannins.Navarra used to be known just for inexpensive quaffing reds, but there has been a whole ocean of approachable yet charismatic reds coming out in recent years, just like this one.

Caves St Pierre Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes 2020
The Cotes Du Rhone Vieilles Vignes is a stunning wine, offering us Rhone Valley excellence, made with the same care and attention to detail as the rest of their top cuvees. This includes rigorous site selection, use of older vines (hence Vielle Vignes), sorting and maturation to deliver the most flavourful and delicious final wine. The blend is majority Grenache, which gives the wine fullness and elegance, followed by Syrah for its complex aromatic pallet and Cinsault which imparts a delicateness and subtle red fruit perfume.

Z Wine Rustica Barossa Valley Grenache 2020
This August Grenache is made from gnarled old vines grown in the Barossa Valley. A gold-medal winner, this is a beautifully perfumed wine with ripe red fruit and potpourri aromatics. The tannins are soft and supple, making this very attractive to drink already, although it will continue developing for many years yet if you have the patience. This tasty wine has us very excited about this new-kid-on-the-block. Z wines are one to watch.
