Warm up your winter with this collection of typically full bodied reds and textural white wines drawn from all over the countryside.

Headlining the dozen is a stunning Hunter Valley Shiraz we've plucked from the cellar. This 96pt scoring Sweetwater Vineyard Hermitage Shiraz 2004 is a super smooth red that sourced from a famed old vineyard and made by modern legend of Hunter wine Andrew Thomas. Matured since release in a cool cellar, you can only buy this from the Hungerford Hill Wines (who recently bought the vineyard) cellar door where it goes for $90 a bottle.

But why stop there? You can have 11 other wines in the pack, with over $321 worth of wine that you can take home for just $149 a dozen.

This pack contains:

2004 Sweetwater Hermitage Shiraz
James Halliday
The cork is in pretty good shape, and so is the wine. Supple black fruits, spice, earth, leather on lees - all intertwined; soft but persistent tannins holding the ship of state in fine trim.

Silkwood Regional Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Lesley Jameson, Wine Panel
'Lovely tropical herbal nose; more tropical/passionfruit on the palate than your usual WA savvy, some grassiness, a clean fresh crisp and flavoursome finish. Very approachable!!'

Margan Verdelho 2019
Lesley Jameson, Wine Panel.
'Lovely pineapple and nectarine flavours but a crisp dry finish - not too fruity or any bitterness'

Sfera By Wirrega Pinot Gris 2019
An odd name maybe but this Sfera wine is one of those products were you stop and think 'what is this and where has it come from'. Turns out that the Wirrega vineyard is a project headed by Geoff Hardy and a group of partners to produce premium grapes on the cool Limestone Coast. You don't see the label around very much, but when the odd wine lobs it can be very handy - just like this Gris, Gentle ripe fruit, fine texture and yet with tight citrus acidity, this is well made Gris with width and flavour.

Grant Burge gb15 Pinot Grigio 2019
Approachable fruit forward style, generous compilation of citrus and stone fruit with well rounded acidity making it dangerously easy drinking.

Leogate Brokenback Semillon 2017
Halliday's Wine Companion
A youthful plump Semillon, utilising deft lees work to carve a groove of imminently approachable softness without sacrificing the Hunter postcode of lanolin, lemon drop and bright, transparent acidity. This is a delicious drink off the bat, but will service mid-term cellaring across the next five to eight years.

Tyrrell's 1858 Hunter Valley Chardonnay 2019
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Revealing delicate fruit flavours and soft-toned texture, the wine shows peach, rockmelon, lemon pith and nougat characters on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that’s elegantly weighted and creamy. It’s charming and splendidly approachable.

Mount Kitchener Shiraz 2017
From Trent Burge (son of Grant) comes a typically flavoursome South Australian Shiraz built in a style you just know is going to be good before you crack the lid. Using luscious Barossa fruit with a smidgen from other parts of SA for complexity, the whole package is a chunky, proudly Australian red with plenty of oak, rich fruit and firm tannins.

Penley Estate Argus Coonawarra Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc 2017
Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon - what more could you want in a Coonawarra red? Penley have really reinvented themselves in the last few years and wines like this are what they're now known for. A red blend that combines all the structure you want in Coonawarra reds, with some excellent juicy fruit.

2016 Kirrihill Winemakers Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2016 Winemaker selection Cabernet Sauvignon is deep red with a vibrant purple hue. It has bright aromas of rich blackcurrant with a touch of cassis and violets. The tannins are are fine and elegant giving the wine length and poise through the finish. A wine that can be enjoyed upon release but will also reward with careful cellaring.

Zilzie Selection 23 Pinot Noir 2019
Fruit forward style with subtle savouriness from the nose, strawberry and secondary flavours of cherry and pepper notes express throughout the glass. Great to enjoy on the couch with pizza.

Cake Wines McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Top notch McLaren Vale Cabernet from the highly talented Sarah Burvill

Wine is such a subjective beast. My brother might love a wine while I absolutely hate it. But that’s why it’s so fascinating - there is something out there for absolutely everyone! So if you haven’t found something that tickles your fancy, here are a few more potential options:
