Let's make this the spring of great premium red wines.

Well at least that's the intention with The Spring of Great Premium Reds Dozen It's the cream of the cream - a curated selection of the finest wines around in a frankly stupendous $749+ mixed dozen that represents the best wine in the country, all for just $299.

This pack contains 2 of the following wines:

Dandelion Vineyards Sleeping Beauty GSM 2018
You can call this red a homage. A homage to the skill of winemaking guru Elena Brooks and to the beauty of old vine Grenache.

The town of Gomersal plays a starring role here, with this sometimes forgotten part of the Barossa the source of the latest Dandelion deliciousness. A wine that combines the red fruit joy of Grenache, with some judicious inputs from Shiraz and Mataro (or Mourvedre whatever is your flavour) it has the vibrancy of more medium bodied reds but driven by the impressive depth of old vine fruit.

Another wonder red from a true wunderkind.

Grant Burge Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Shadrach is serious full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that is the flagship Cab for Grant Burge.

Released with a few careful years rest in the winery cellar, it's a red that straddles the fence between ripe Barossa fruit and then structure and elegance.

With a monster 96 points from James Halliday and a long, celebrated history of sky-high points and positive reviews, this is undeniably fine red wine just itching to be in your cellar.

Heirloom Alcala McLaren Vale Grenache 2019
Flagship, $80 a bottle Grenache from an ancient-vine McLaren Vale vineyard. Produced by international winemaking legend Elena Brooks. Like the previous vintages, we expect MASSIVE critic scores to come.

Laurent Perrachon Morgon Corcelette 2018
Of all the Perrachon releases, the Corcelette is one of the most full-flavoured and robust. It's Cru Beaujolais at its most serious form. What does that mean? Well, here we have Gamay, from the village of Morgon and the hamlet of Corcelette - a spot known for deep and quite robust styles and unquestioned intensity.

Thompson Estate Locum Cabernet Merlot 2018
Premium Margaret River Cabernet Merlot from Thompson Estate with classic lines, long tannins and then a firm finish. Has presence and character - a proper structured Margs red for drinking now or well into the future.

Tomich Icons of Woodside H888 Shiraz 2018
A single block offering, this is opaque of hue, belied by the fireworks of floral aromas: violet, iodine, smoked meat and anise. The overall impression is one of lift and pulpy blue fruits. The finish is juicy. Long and succulent. Nothing drying. A little American oak coffee bean nestled beautifully. I dig this
95 points, Ned Goodwin - Halliday Wine Companion
