"Lifted, perfumed and minty."

Seedling is a project label for the Innes family of Ottelia, based on the beautiful Limestone Coast.
This Coonawarra Cabernet is a generous, round and medium weight with that lovely savouriness that Coonawarra Cab does so well, all at a superb price.

Expert Reviews

93 Points - Sam Kim - Wine OrbitThis is gorgeously fruited and inviting on the nose showing blackcurrant, spiced cherry, mint chocolate, anise and cedar characters. The palate delivers succulent fruit flavours and excellent weight, wonderfully complemented by silky texture and fine, chalky tannins. Flavoursome and persistent with gorgeous fruit and spicy/savoury flavours. At its best: now to 2027.
90 Points - Campbell Mattinson - The Wine FrontCabernet done well. It puts structure and length ahead of volume, though it’s not wimpy. It tastes of mint, olives, blackcurrant and cedar-infused cream. It’s both cabernet and Coonawarra at every turn. There’s a dusting of dried herb character here too. It’s good. It will do OK in the cellar over the medium term, ad well-balanced medium-weight cabernet invariably does.

How's it taste?

Generous and lifted, showing complex aromas of cherry liquor and mulberry fruits with notes of mint and warm spice. Medium bodied with distinctive and persistent flavours of ripe dark fruits, spicy cassis, finishing with background French oak.

How was it made?

A cool growing season and above average winter rains leading into the 2017 vintage saw the region return to what could be best described as a more traditional Coonawarra vintage. The cool season produced medium bodied red wines of deep colour and elegant fruit flavours.
