How's it taste?

This vibrant yet delicate dry style Prosecco from the cooler high country of Victoria's King Valley is delightfully fragrant. The juicy pear and crisp apple flavours are light and refreshing.

How was it made?

The fruit was harvested when the temperature was cooler to retain maximum fruit flavour and freshness. The juice was fermented in stainless steel with a neutral yeast strain. After the 'Metodo Italiano' style secondary fermentation, the wine was bottled to retain it's natural refreshing spritz.

Who made it?

In the words of Aretha Franklin, this family owned winery is all about R.E.S.P.E.C.T. The Forbes family respect the land by producing a carbon neutral wine, Bulloak, and cutting their water usage by 35% since 2005. They also give a respectful nod to their Scottish ancestors who originally name the property Zilzie over 100 years ago. Even the design of the ‘Z’ on the label is based on the shape of the Murray River as it snakes around the property. The current Forbes family members have farmed the land for 30 years. They supplied fruit to some of Australia’s largest wine companies before deciding to do their own thing in 1999. Today, they have 572 hectares of vines and produce around 100,000 cases per year. Winemaker Mark Zeppel and his team make an array of wines using varietals like Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. They dedicate themselves to using the best parcels of fruit from various regions to make consistently good wines at affordable prices. The styles are fun, fruit-driven and express the grape variety without swamping it with oak.
